Nowadays, organizations are rapidly taking measures in integrating Environmental Management System (EMS) and lean practices in all types of environmental conditions in order to enhance their performance and efficiency. However, lean knowledge in every engineer can be questioned and to develop a lean culture, lean ideology is required. Furthermore, to gain the knowledge in lean required engineers to buy a bunch of lean’s book. By realizing on this gap, the author wrote a book that provides an EMS by integrating of ISO 14001:2004 standard with the lean principles that ensures the continuous improvement and sustainability for the organization in the current environment. This book will help the engineers to develops and more understand the conceptual framework for EMS through integrated lean principles with ISO 14001. The developed model will be known as “Lean Environmental Management Integration System†(LEMIS). Integration between LEAN, EMS and ISO 14001 also has been clearly explained where problem occurred in industries and provide simple steps to enhance the continuous improvement activities. This book represents a competitive manner for them to understand and easy to be implemented in their industries. Together with this book, some useful example and case study are provided in order to give them a real view on success of lean. The specialties of this book are every formula of calculation is highlighted and an additional of seven types of waste is discussed clearly. The successful integration of EMS, lean principles and ISO 14001 brings various advantages to the entire organization including employees, stakeholders, community and customers. LEMIS performance measurement model was developed to visualize all the performance measures and involvement of all levels of employees to enhance the problem solving capability. The case study in real life implementation were used for results validation. For engineers, this book will give a bunch of benefits by providing a key to start the continuous improvement project.
