118 pages. MRC has conducted a study on the latex thread and catheters industries in China and Thailand to examine the competitiveness between the manufacturers of these products in China, Thailand, and Malaysia. The global latex thread market is valued at USD 702 million in 2021 with China contributing 39 of the demand Being the largest worldwide supplier of textiles and garments, China's latex thread production size is valued at approximately USD 112 million, making it one of the main consumers of latex thread worldwide. Thailand is the world's largest manufacturer of latex thread, with 99 of its production is catered for export. Thailand's latex thread production market size is valued at approximately USD 308 million and 58 of its production are exported to China in 2020. The global consumption of Foley catheters is estimated to be USD 884 million in 2021 with China's production volume estimated to be 119 million pieces per year. Thailand, on the other hand, has no production capacity for latex Foley catheters, thus local demand is met by imports from China and other international brands. Demand for Foley catheters in both countries is projected to increase due to growing elderly population mix, improved healthcare awareness, and national reimbursement scheme which has made Foley catheters more affordable. Thailand can be considered as the strongest player for latex thread given its consistent product quality, competitive price, and well perceived brand reputation. On the other hand, China players are new to the industry, and constantly invest in technology to enhance their production capacity and quality to keep up with market competition. Meanwhile for Foley catheters, product quality of China manufacturers are catching up with other global players, yet China produced catheters are being offered at a significantly lower price.
